The October issue of Elle Magazine features Tyla as its newest cover star.
The headline “Tyla Takes Over” was aggressively placed on the cover since the magazine is celebrating the singer for all of her victories.
“At the ripe young age of 22, the breakout pop star has had one of the fastest, most explosive rises in music—with a following that spans much of the world. Just a few years ago, she was a high schooler in Johannesburg with big dreams, and has since become the first South African solo artist to reach the Billboard Hot 100 since the legendary Hugh Masekela, 55 years earlier,” the publication wrote.
“Not to mention, Tyla was the first winner of the new Grammy category Best African Music Performance for “Water.” And she’s not done yet.”
“This year was me introducing myself. Next year I’m just gonna have fun,” Tyla said. “Do whatever, wear whatever. I’m just playing around a lot, and bringing a lot of my roots into my music. It’s still gonna be me, still sweaty vibes, but evolved.”
